Dr. Michael Flavin is a full-time Professor of Pediatrics, Neonatologist and Pediatric Respirologist.
Dr. Flavin is a graduate of medical schol in Ireland. He received fellowship training in neonatology at McMaster University, Hamilton and his pediatric respirology training at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
He is Director of Pediatrics Research and Coordinator of Resident Research. He teaches both residents and medical students on neonatal and resipirology topics.
He is active in research on risk factors and mechanisms for a variety of neurodevelopmental impairments including cerebral palsy, autism and attention deficit disorder. He is currently leading a Canada-wide project on newborn hypoglycemia on low risk infants. He collaborates on other studies, including a study on use of nebulized hypertonic saline in bronchial conditions in infants and toddlers, a study of genetics literacy in care-providers and a study to evidence-based electronic systems to enhance management of asthma.
